Pumpkin Patching - Fall festivities at Barton Hill Farms.

Back in Texas and reunited with my main men I was champing at the bit to get stuck back in to Austin life. The weather has changed in my absence - I left a roasting hot state and returned to a crisp Fall one. Hurrah. Also good because I had returned with a suitcase full of Autumnal attire which I was worried I wouldn't be able to wear.

But where to wear my newly acquired plaid (that's checks for people what speak the Queens)? Where indeed. A quick and shameless evesdrop in the staffroom at the school I was speaking in on Monday suggested pumpkin fields were an autumnal option in Texas. A quick google confirmed this. How very 'Merican. Excellent.

Sunny Salcombe celebrations - A barefoot sea side wedding in Devon.

When I booked my flights Texas-UK to get to Cam's wedding I felt that Devon was so relatively close to London that I didn't really need to worry about how to get there once I was safely installed in the country. I am an idiot.

Salcombe is tiny, the nearest railway station is an hours drive away in Totnes. Totnes is at least three hours on the train from London.

National Kate Day (or the London Sea Life Center)

"Why, pray tell, are you and C insisting that we visit the Sea Life Center?" - Bemused husband of best friend (who obviously hasn't seen the penguins or he wouldn't be asking) when we meet at Waterloo Station. He is aware that 'Day of Kate' has been in the calendar for ages but otherwise is bemusedly muttering about National Kate Day (An excellent idea. We will celebrate every year!).

Aaannnd back to London for an (extremely jet lagged) engagement party.

It hasn't been very long since my last trip to the UK (7 weeks in fact) but my friends keep getting engaged or married, and one of the deals that we made when we moved here was that we would prioritize trips home for important events above other holidays -  so, with one best friend having her engagement drinks (I'm a bridesmaid. Hurrah!), and another important friend getting married - I packed my bags, waved a sad good bye to my favourite boys and jumped on the (thankfully now direct) flight from Austin to London.

Pedernales Falls State Park (and a dip in to the Texas Hill Country Olive Co.)

With summer memories fading fast and Jon's Parents in town for a long weekend it was definitely time for an adventure.

Inspired by a recent viewing of Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood' (a glorious film and three hour long Texas love letter - go and watch it immediately. It's absolutely perfect) We strapped on our walking boots and piled in to the car for the hour long drive out of Austin to the Pedernales Falls State Park - definitely worth taking an actual map if you're, like me, dependent on your iPhone for directions - absolutely no cell phone reception out here.

Care Bear pink Autumn Hair

During my mid teenage years I dyed the tips of my very blonde hair a deep pink. Sadly no pictures survive (I was also going through a phase of wearing pretty absurd eye makeup and absolutely gigantic jeans. It's probably best there are no photos...)!
